choosing a rod and reel

Most affordablefishing equipment today is very versatile for many types of fishing. For example I have used some of my freshwater gear for saltwater fishing and I have also used some of my ultra light tackle for large mouth fishing. However every time I purchase a new rod or reelI want to make sure what I purchase will work together whether it be a new reel for a rod or vice versa. Be sure to find information on the line capacities on both the rod and reel so your equipment is properly balanced. The bail on the reel usually gives the line capacities that work best with that reel. Most manufactured fishing rods will also give regemended line weight, height and action of the rod. For example arod may say heavy fast action or medium slow action. The heaviness of the rod dictates how much weight the rod will properly handle or cast usually in ounces. The action of the rod dictates how much play is in the rod. For example, fast action rods are stiff and slow action rods are more flexible. So to make sure your getting what you want for a happy day on the water andbe sure to find out the these simple details to properly match your rod and reel before you make your purchase.
Happy Fishing
